The Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford is a charming country house set peacefully in a mix of manicured gardens and open spaces. I was delighted when Matt and Jayne approached me to be their Mere Court Wedding Photographer. The timeline between them booking and their actual wedding date was only 6 weeks away so I was keen to arrange a pre-wedding meeting with them at The Mere Court Hotel as soon as was possible in order to tour the venue together, gathering shooting ideas as well as jotting down those all-important timings to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day. Typically a couple might treat me to a cup of coffee during the meeting but Matt bought me a pint instead. I knew we were going to get on like a house on fire!

I find it is always important to get to know the couple beyond the details, to find out a bit of background, about how they got together, what their hopes are, what their fears are. A recent death in the family had threatened to cast a shadow over their day but they were determined to mark their day with positivity. As good as their word, Matt and Jayne embraced their wedding day celebrations with a beautiful ceremony in the Arboreum, played in by Liz Hendry – Pianist and the day continued with love, with laughter and some tears, but positivity throughout.

The banter during their group shots was laugh out loud funny, which helped to keep up the energy of the guests and then I whisked them away for some formal portraits gave them 20 minutes of breathing space so they could spend some ‘alone time’ for a couple of cheeky drone shots and some posed portraits, all with love and laughter. A superb meal from The Mere Court, emotional speeches and a lively evening reception underlined this wonderful couple, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. A final portrait session by the fountain before we left completed a beautiful collection of memories for Matt and Jayne.
