Chloe and Steven got in touch with me on the Hitched platform to see if I was available to be their Village Point Wedding Photographer for their special day. After exchanging a few messages we arranged to meet up at Village Point together to discuss ideas and I was booked the same day. I always find it helpful to walk around a venue with an engaged couple if possible so they can visualise photographic ideas together ahead of their wedding day, so any portrait settings are more natural for them, rather than being an unexpected distraction.
Village Point Heaton Moor is a lovely venue but it lacks any outdoor spaces, so I did a bit of local research and came up with the idea of shooting the formals and some portraits in nearby Heaton Moor Park. Everything was in place for their wedding day ahead when I received the news that Chloe’s mum had passed away just a month before their date. They were determined however to push ahead with their wedding and to honour her by celebrating her life, symbolised by a commemorative slate on a front row chair and a beautiful silver charm that went on the bridal bouquet. These were lovely touches, enhanced by their loving families and guests to bring positive energy and support to their day.

With their ceremony vows completed, we made the short walk in convoy to Heaton Moor park for the group shots and some posed portraits before making our way back to Village Point for their wedding breakfast, finished with emotive speeches before taking some time for some more posed portraits ahead of the evening guest arrivals. The cake cut consisted of two caterpillar cakes (Colin and Connie) before they took their first dance. They had a live band to get the party rocking long into the evening. A wonderful couple with wonderful guests on a beautiful day.
