When Tracey got in touch with me using my contact form, I was initially looking at being their Village Hotel Cheadle Wedding Photographer, then upon closer inspection of her message, I realised that they were asking me to cover their wedding vow renewal ceremony. Renewing wedding vows in the UK is a symbolic, non-legal ceremony for married couples or civil partners to reaffirm their commitment to each other, often for anniversaries or after overseas weddings, allowing for personal touches like readings, rings, and celebrants. It’s a chance to celebrate milestones, overcome challenges, or include guests who missed the original wedding, such as their own children. What a wonderful idea!
With the form responded to and telephone contact made, Tracey told me all about her plans, asked questions and took some of my suggestions before making a booking with me. To seal the deal, we arranged a pre-wedding meeting at their wedding venue, which is a great way to put faces to names, touring the premises to scope out the best shooting locations and getting those all-important details noted down ahead of their special day. One of the biggest considerations was that Tracey was worried about having a large celebration as she could suffer from a crippling anxiety. Fortunately on the day, these fears were unfounded as their day was filled with the most laughter I’ve experienced throughout a wedding day.

An example of the comedy was Chris reading his vows for Tracey, only to realise half way through that he’d picked up the wrong card and was reading Tracey’s vows meant for him! The mood of the day was light hearted, expertly driven by AllyRosalieCelebrant and the guests were surprised by singing waiters who triggered the party mood with their comic routines and infectious songs which everybody joined in. A joyful day from start to finish!
