William and Stella’s story is one of two generations – firstly, the ‘elders’ who were consisted of the mums and dads, along with uncles, aunties and grandparents, steeped in Chinese traditions, then there were the ‘youngsters’ who were the bride and groom along with their wider circle of friends wanted to embrace a more modern approach to wedding celebrations. Fusing these two styles together were essential to the brief when they chose me to be their Crow Wood wedding photographer. From the initial contact via my website form, followed by a few emails and a phone call, it was clear that the couple were careful in making the right decisions to get all their boxes ticked.

Having being chosen to be their Crow Wood wedding photographer, we arranged a pre-wedding meeting to get those all-important details together. Being a dog-lover, I was very happy to see their dog Loki was going to be a part of their wedding celebrations. You could describe Loki as being quite bouncy and just about the right side of bonkers! With the brief made, I was expecting a day of fun – Will and Stella didn’t disappoint as their friends had created a series of pre-wedding games to set the mood for the day ahead. Stella’s room was bustling with activity during her preparations, finished with a traditional hair brushing and we were soon onto their wedding ceremony which was delivered with a good dose of humour, followed by the traditional tea ceremony.

With the confetti and canapés done, we got the group portraits and went onto some bride and groom portraits, before heading back inside for their wedding breakfast and speeches, after which the newlyweds visited every table to greet their guests and take a drink together, as per Chinese tradition. Then it was onto the evening celebrations which consisted of the shoe game which was hilarious, the bouquet toss, cake cut and first dance. The fun-loving nature of their guests came to the forefront of the evening celebrations as they played the ‘bring me’ game and the ‘blindfold’ game. We left Will and Stella to party into the night, having enjoyed a fantastic day together.
