Didsbury House Hotel is a luxury Victorian Townhouse located in the fashionable suburb of Didsbury, Manchester. Best suited to intimate weddings, it offers 27 individually designed bedrooms to accommodate your wedding party in peaceful surroundings. As you enter this building you are greeted with a beautiful wooden staircase and intricate stained glass wall. Ian and Mel found me online and contacted me via my website form. A couple of conversations later I was thrilled to be Ian and Mel’s Didsbury House Wedding Photographer.
Ian and Mel as an older couple have been together for a long time, opting for a simple, intimate wedding without too much fuss, doing things their own way, witnessed by a small group of friends and family. They opted for 3 hours of wedding photography coverage. For some people, a full day of wedding photography is not a priority – only the key moments are necessary, and I think that’s only natural. I like to be flexible in the hours that I work so if you only require coverage of a few hours and I have the date free, especially if it’s a mid-week or last minute booking, then please contact me and I’ll be more than happy to provide you with a bespoke quote.
Our arrival was into a relaxed atmosphere with no rush required. We were able to capture the end of Mel’s bridal prep and Ian’s reaction when he first saw her ahead of their ceremony. They also chose to walk up the aisle together, hand-in-hand, and took every opportunity to face their guests during their ceremony, which made the whole occasion feel more intimate. These were lovely touches by the couple. Their humanist ceremony finished with a hand fasting ritual which looked complicated to start with but ended beautifully.

From the moment the ceremony ended the heavens opened and we were faced with a deluge of torrential rain! Fortunately, the walled terrace was just a few steps away, offering a large canopy to protect the guests while we did the confetti shot underneath. We were left with time to do some lit portraits inside Didsbury House before leaving Ian and Mel to enjoy their wedding breakfast with their guests.
