Wedding – Jodie and Tara at The Plough Inn

Wedding – Jodie and Tara at The Plough Inn

The Plough Inn is a historic 400-year old half timbered country pub, restaurant and 4-star hotel located in the hamlet of Eaton, near Congleton Cheshire. The centrepiece of this building is a beautiful oak barn, dating back to the 13th Century (which was originally sited in Wales!). This makes The Plough Inn at Eaton a very popular wedding venue, providing an intimate setting for around 115 guests, paired with a modern light and airy orangery and outdoor areas. Another huge plus to this venue is the amazing food. Jodie and Tara found me on the Hitched platform and after a couple of conversations I was booked to be their Plough Inn Wedding Photographer.

As with all of my couples, we made arrangements to have a pre-wedding meet at The Plough Inn, where we could ‘walk and talk’ visualising places where portraits could be taken, nailing down the important timeline details, and generally getting to know each other. It gives them the opportunity to ask questions and get those all-important answers in an informal setting. Needless to say, we all hit it off together when we met and they left the meeting reassured that I would look after them for their same-sex wedding ceremony and celebrations.

Jodie and Tara started their day at The Lion and Swan in Congleton. They both booked The suite but at different times so they wouldn’t see each other until they walked the aisle. The suite is spacious enough for around 6 people, along with room for the MUA and hairdresser, along with a beautiful roll top bath which provided a great setting for some fun images. Despite the room being busy with a lot of goings in and out, the atmosphere remained calm and relaxed. It enabled me to shoot intimate moments from a discrete distance and to be up close and personal for the fun stuff. I’m happy to report that the prep time for both brides worked out perfectly.

Emotions were high among the guests as the Oak Barn ceremony started, with both brides looking stunning and beaming with joy. Meaningful vows were exchanged with heartfelt sincerity, finished with an eruption of applause as they had their first kiss as a married couple. It was straight outside to the back of the barn for the confetti shot in the beautiful sunshine and then around to the front for the group shots, smaller groups and some LGBT flag waving. We then left the guests to mingle in the orangery while we made our way to the nearby park for some outdoor portraits.

With the portraits in the can, we made our way back to the Plough Inn to enjoy a beautiful wedding breakfast, capturing emotional speeches before the evening celebrations, beginning with the cake cut and first dances leading into a fantastic party for all of the guests. Our last shots before we left was taking some portraits of the newlyweds with their dogs, completing the family. We got some killer images and their album and canvas print looked fantastic. This wedding was fantastic from start to finish and I wish them love and happiness for their future.
