Stockport Town Hall is a Grade II listed building with renaissance architecture, built in 1905 and given the nickname “The Wedding Cake”, due to the stunning marble tiered clock tower above the main entrance. The Town Hall is local to me, so it is always a pleasure to be asked to be a couple’s Stockport Town Hall Wedding Photographer.
Alex and Beth (also known as Myrrh) wanted a simple, intimate wedding without too much fuss. A small group of friends and family were in attendance and I was booked for a total of 3 hours. For some people, a full day of wedding photography is not a priority – only the key moments are necessary, and I think that’s only natural. I like to be flexible in the hours that I work so if you only require coverage of a few hours and I have the date free, especially if it’s a mid-week or last minute booking, then please contact me and I’ll be more than happy to provide you with a bespoke quote.

A pre-wedding meeting is so important with my couples – not only do you deal with the timelines and shooting requests, you get a ‘feel’ for their excitement, their expectations and their fears. Alex and Beth were both prone to anxiety and it was my responsibility to put them at ease for the time I’d be spending with them. A clear plan with no surprises and giving them both space to be themselves when needed. The day didn’t disappoint as Beth arrived with her dad in a beautiful convertible classic VW Beetle in the beautiful sunshine. Their intimate ceremony took place in The Robert Hyde room, followed by confetti outside and a journey to The Alderley Edge Hotel.

It was onto the group shots with the assembled guests in the gardens of The Alderley Edge Hotel. I’m always mindful of older guests who may have mobility issues, so I ensured that we had a sizeable bench right next to where we were shooting the groups, so they didn’t have to remain standing or have to make their way across uneven ground when they weren’t being photographed.

With the group shots done, we were left with the happy couple as they took their first dance as man and wife in the gardens. It was back inside to grab some detail shots before we left them to continue with their wedding celebrations…
